STEP 5: Complete your Audition
The good news is you're already in band! All you need to do is complete an audition so we can figure out which band class will fit you best.
The woodwind and brass auditions are due May 11. The audition will consist of two short musical selections and a couple of scales. Students will receive the music in April and have 2 to 3 weeks to prepare. You will submit video recordings of your performances on the Flipgrid app. The band directors will score all of the performances and place students into one of the three ability-based concert bands -- Wind Symphony, Symphonic Winds 1, or Symphonic Winds 2.
Percussionists will audition for their marching band instrument assignment by attending several training sessions which will be scheduled on Tuesday nights starting in February. Mr. Bibb will send out the schedule as soon as it is set.
-
STEP 6: Complete your UIL PreParticipation Physical Exam
All band and color guard students are required to complete a UIL Physical Exam and submit the medical history form to the band staff. We will turn in your form to the CHS Athletic Trainers once we've signed off on it.
If you also plan to participate in UIL athletics, you will only need to submit one form for the year. Please contact Mr. Feller if you have already submitted next year's form to an athletics coach or trainer.
Printed copies are available from your band director.
-
STEP 7: Turn in your Golden Pride Travel and Medical Release Form
This form will be available at Band Registration Day on June 4. It must be completed on neon green paper so that we can distinguish it from other forms.
