Mr. Jake Walker

Jake Walker was named principal of Cooke Elementary School in May of 2016 after eleven years of combined experience as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, and assistant principal.

Mr. Walker grew up and attended school in Northeast Oklahoma before moving to the Oklahoma City area, where he continued his college education at the University of Central Oklahoma.  After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, he moved to Plano, Texas, with his wife, Molly, where they worked together at Forman Elementary in Plano ISD for eight years.  His time in Plano came to an end after accepting an assistant principal position at Carol Holt Elementary in Mansfield ISD.  Mr. Walker served in this role for three years before being named as the principal of Cooke.

Among Mr. Walker’s guiding beliefs is the immeasurable value of family and education.  These two passions are linked throughout his family as numerous family members are involved in public education, including both his father and mother, as well as his wife who is currently an elementary school librarian in Granbury ISD.  During Mr. Walker’s time at Cooke Elementary, creating a strong connection between the community and the school has been central to the school’s mission.
