When students experience difficulties with academics due to trauma or other life stressors, it is not uncommon to find their academic success affected. My great passion is to assist students with their social-emotional needs, academic goals, social and personal development and college and career readiness. I help our parents, teachers, and administrators to make our school a great and safe place for our students to learn and grow.
I recently moved to Burleson, Texas from my home town of San Antonio, Texas. I have high regard for Cleburne ISD and their philosophies of education and working with students, parents and the community. I am excited about being a part of the Cleburne ISD team and getting to know the community of Cleburne and its wonderful people. I am enthusiastic and passionate about being a counselor and serving the Cleburne ISD community.
As a school counselor, I have worked with students of all grade levels from Pre-K to 12 and all socioeconomic levels. This is my 18th year in education. For eight years, I worked in the capacity of a high school counselor (the first six years serving as a special education high school counselor and the last two as a college and career counselor). The experience has afforded me great opportunities to work with students with mental health issues, disabilities and to assist students and their parents with their transition to all levels of education. The first five years of my career in the capacity of an elementary school counselor. Over the years, I have worked with children (ages 6 to 19) and their parents by volunteering in programs such as FEAT (Family Enrichment through Adventure Therapy) at ChildSafe. I am passionate and enthusiastic about helping students be academically successful and college and career-ready.
