Trustees Name New Assistant Principal for C.C. Cooke Elementary

Among the new faces at C.C. Cooke Elementary in the upcoming school year will be one in the Assistant Principal’s office.

In school board action Monday night, Trustees approved Christina Roberson as an incoming campus administrator. She will fill the vacancy created by Crystal Kampen’s appointment to Principal of Wheat Middle School, effective at the end of the current school year.

Roberson is currently the assistant principal at Loflin Middle School. She has a total of 17 years in education, all with Joshua ISD. Before moving into administration, she spent 13 years as an elementary teacher in grades 2-4 and a math interventionist. Roberson served as the assistant principal at Plum Creek Elementary from 2017-2020.

“Christina's four years of administrative experience will allow her to really hit the ground running at Cooke,” Principal Jake Walker said. “That, coupled with her classroom experience as a second, third and fourth grade teacher and math specialist is going to allow her to really connect with our teachers, as she knows what it takes to be successful.”

“During her interview, she discussed the importance of building relationships with students and families,” Walker said. “As a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School, that is something we truly prioritize when choosing the best staff for Cooke Elementary. Among the remarks we received from one of her references was ‘if you can get Christina to take the job, you are getting an absolute gem.’ We agree and are thrilled for her to start.”

Roberson has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing from McMurry University in 2000 and obtained her teaching certification in 2004. She was awarded a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University in 2014.

Trustees also approved the recommendation of Kristie Price as the new counselor for Marti Elementary. Price will be coming to Marti from Keller ISD where she has served for three years as an intermediate school counselor.

Price’s resume includes ten years as an elementary and intermediate school English, language arts and reading teacher in the San Angelo and Everman school districts. She began her career in 2009 as a kindergarten teacher.
