T-Mobile is partnering with Cleburne ISD’s Remote Learning program in recognizing students who are “going the distance” in their attendance, participation, effort and achievements in the virtual classroom.   

Rigorous Remote Student Awards have been presented to one student per grade level (grades 1-12) enrolled in Remote Instruction, established this year as an alternative to in-person learning in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, 685 CISD students are enrolled in Remote Learning.

“Just as our in-person learners are recognized for outstanding effort and performance in the classroom, we wanted to honor and celebrate our remote instruction students for their hard work,” Remote Learning Director Tracy Shea said. “Through the sponsorship of T-Mobile, we will be honoring a select group of scholars each grading period with Rigorous Remote Student Award yard signs. We surprised our first set of honorees right before the Thanksgiving Break and it was hard to tell who was more excited—the students or their teachers.”

“These students we are celebrating have been outstanding in the focus, engagement and effort they bring to the virtual classroom and in their work with teachers each day,” Shea said. “Just as their peers in the traditional classroom who receive these recognitions, they come to class ready to learn and ready to work.”

Students who have been enrolled by their parents in the Remote Learning program maintain their home campus status while working distantly, from their residence, under the instruction of CISD teachers making up the Remote Learning Campus faculty. As participants in Remote Learning, they are involved in two-way, real-time/live instruction with their teachers, and must meet the same attendance and academic requirements as students enrolled in Face-to-Face instruction.

Rigorous Remote Student Award honorees at the elementary level are: Jayden Luna, 1^st grade, C.C. Cooke, taught by Jackie Allison; Zachary Zuniga, 2nd grade, C.C. Cooke, taught by Maria Polasek; Bentley Burns, 3rd grade, Irving, taught by Rhonda George; Abigail Hawkins, 4th grade, Gerard, taught by Gina Wade; Noah Robles, 5th grade, Gerard, taught by Christie Smith.

                Middle School Rigorous Remote Award winners include Kenia Lopez, 6^th grade, Smith MS, taught by Jessica Fernandez; Micah Taylor, 7^th grade, Wheat MS, taught by Matt Hiller and Rebekah Kneupper and Victoria Warniment, 8^th grade, Wheat MS, taught by Lisa Phipps.

                High school honorees, who are taught by CHS teachers serving at the Remote Learning campus, include freshman Ethan Polasek; sophomore Breauna Crotts; junior Anahy Perez and senior Amy Fowler.
