The sixth annual CISD Multicultural Fair, celebrating the rich diversity within the students and staff of Cleburne schools, will take place Thursday from 5-8 p.m. in the Cleburne Conference Center.

                Student performances, a sampling of dishes from six countries from around the globe, prepared by Cleburne High School culinary arts student chefs, and a variety of children’s activities will be among the evening’s highlights. An exhibit of international art created by students in the Gifted and Talented program and a STEAM Room with science, technology, engineering, art and math activities will also be featured. The event is free and open to the community.

                Filling the Exhibit Hall of the Conference Center will be booths manned by school and community representatives providing information on programs, resources and services available to students and families.

                “We were very excited to begin the planning of the 2022 Multicultural Fair, after putting last year’s event on hold due to COVID,” Christy Burton, CISD director of World Languages said. “We appreciate the City of Cleburne serving as co-sponsor of the Fair, along with the agencies, organizations and churches from throughout the community that are providing booths and door prizes. Our hopes are to provide CISD stakeholders with an evening of fun and entertainment, while also raising their awareness of the numerous programs and resources available to families and residents.”

                Student performances will take place in the Conference Center Theatre, beginning at 5:20 p.m. with the Posting of the Colors by members of the Cleburne High School Navy National Defense Cadet Corps, followed by the National Anthem sung by the CHS Choral.

                The lineup of entertainment to follow includes the Adams Elementary Bucket Drum music team, to be joined by the CHS Crazies; C. C. Cooke Elementary Vocal Roar Show Choir; Santa Fe music students; performances by students in Irving’s kindergarten and first grade Two-Way Dual Language program and songs from “Hamilton, Jr.” presented by Gerard fifth graders.

                Ensembles made up of members of the CHS Golden Pride who have qualified to compete at the UIL State Solo and Ensemble contest will also be featured, with scenes from the CHS One-Act Play entry, “A Monster Calls” to serve as the final act of the evening.

                  Student chefs from the CHS culinary arts program have planned a global gastronomy, in preparing and providing a tasting of snacks, entrees and desserts native to Brazil, India, Italy, the Marshall Islands, Puerto Rico and Vietnam.
