Marti Elementary teacher Vicki Rhoades will now be serving as the assistant principal at the campus following approval by Trustees at Tuesday’s school board work session.

                Rhoades joined the district in 2010 and has been a member of the Marti faculty from the start, teaching at the kindergarten and third grade levels. She was honored by her co-workers in being named the 2019-20 campus teacher of the year.

                In May, she was selected as the CISD Elementary Teacher of the Year and will represent the district as a candidate in the regional teacher of the year competition.

                “I am looking forward to working alongside Vicki in her new capacity,” Marti Principal Mary Boedeker said. “Her passion for education, her love for kids and staff and her sunny disposition bring new energy and excitement to our administrative team. Vicki inspires others to do their best. She is a true servant leader and exemplifies the Core Values of Excellence that CISD stands for. She will just as quickly pull up her sleeves to join in the hard work as to pull up a chair and give someone a shoulder to cry on.”

                Rhoades has served in a variety of leadership roles throughout her years at Marti, along with working with members of Student Council as a faculty sponsor.  Her leadership involvement extends to the district level, including the Literacy Leadership and Curriculum Alignment Teams. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Texas Wesleyan University and is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas at Tyler.

                “We are excited to see Vicki taking her role in education to the next level,” Dr. Andrea Hensley, assistant superintendent of Human Resources said. “We are looking forward to her work with students and staff in this new capacity. She has been a teacher leader at Marti, and now she will be a leader of teachers. “
