Cleburne High School will host Advanced Academics Night on July 30 from 5-7 p.m. for students who have signed up for a Pre-AP, AP or Dual Credit course in the upcoming school year, or would like to learn more about the Advanced Course program.

            Cleburne offers more than 30 Pre-AP/AP courses in English, math, science and social studies as well as French, Spanish, computer science, art and music. Numerous dual credit courses are also available through partnerships with Hill College and Tarrant County College.

            “We encourage our students to take the more challenging Advanced Academics courses, which contain weighted grade points for ranking,” Academic Associate Principal Karen Holweg said. “These college-level courses, and their exams, allow students to earn college credit while still in high school—at a fraction of the cost. The educators teaching these classes are trained in the advanced methodology and curriculum required for these college-level courses.”

The presentation will include information on the various advanced course offerings at CHS, along with assignments and projects required and student performance expectations.

“We are very excited to make this information available to students who have been considering advanced or dual credit classes, but want to know more before taking that next step and enrolling,” Holweg said. “We want our students to reach farther and challenge themselves in taking a class with a higher level of rigor. We want Cleburne students to grow, and this is a great way to discover what can happen when you choose to stretch your abilities, in taking an advanced class.”
