District's Back to School Video Features Members of the Community

Cleburne ISD received some major help from community members in creating the 2019 Back to School video which premiered at the employee convocation.

Cleburne High School Choir Director Weslee Vance plays the starring role in the CISD version of the Justin Timberlake video in which he performs “Can’t Stop the Feeling” along with a series of cast members. Students and staff are also featured, with cameo appearances by school board trustees, Cleburne Mayor Scott Cain, retired teachers, business and civic leaders and members of the Cleburne Education Foundation board of directors.

The five-minute production ends with the Kongos’ “Come With Me Now,” as Cleburne High School Principal Ben Renner skateboards into the front doors of the new high school.

“The video gave us the opportunity to launch our theme for the 2019-20 school year, ‘#ComeWithMeNow,’” Superintendent Dr. Kyle Heath said. “We want our students, staff and community to come and experience what our district is doing in providing education for 21st century learners, culminating in those last four years at Cleburne High School.”

“The energy, enthusiasm and joy displayed by everyone who played a part in this endeavor was caught on film in such a great way,” Heath said. “Those feelings are contagious—when you watch the video, you can’t help but smile, especially when you see those from the community performing.”

CISD media specialist and secondary digital learning coordinator Tracy Shea filmed and produced the video. Staging occurred at various locations around the city including H-E-B, The Burger Bar and Huddle House.
