CHS Cheer Squad Competing Friday at UIL Spirit State Championships

The Yellow Jacket Cheerleaders will be judged for their abilities in making game day an engaging, exciting event for fans as they compete in the 2022 UIL Spirit State Championships taking place Friday in the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Squads from across the state will be competing by UIL classifications, with Cleburne among those in 5A Division 1. In the spotlight for CHS, under the direction of Head Coach Christian Hardin and Assistant Coach Tianey Wallace, will be Alexa Ortiz, Aliya Carrizales, Bianca O’Bryant, Hayden McNeese, Jayden Blair, Katie Barnes, Kiley Tanner, Kyndal Medford, Makenna Shields, Marlie Marshall, MattieLu Ward, McKenzie Barnes, Morgan Marvell, Nazeret Kuykendall, Olivia McGaughey, Rowan Eyman, Trinity Cruz, Alexa Roberts, Brelynn Whitlock, Jolea Irvin, Katelyn Jones, Kiarha Arellano, Madi McClure, Mariah Morales, Raegan Stone, Trinity Chambers, Megan Baadsgaard and Delainie Wilson, members of varsity and JV, combining as one unit for the competition.

Cleburne has been among the squads showcasing their skills at the state level since the contest was established in 2017-18, following the sanctioning of cheerleading as a UIL sport in the preceding school year. All teams will be scored in three separate game day elements: band dance, crowd leading and fight song. The Jacket cheerleaders will take the stage in 5A preliminary competition at 10 a.m. Friday, with finals set to start at 6:30 p.m.

The squad received high marks from judges on Saturday as participants in the Mustang Invitational Game Day Spirit Competition at Grapevine High School, coming away as the 5A Division I Group A Runner-Up.

The contest, which begins Thursday with Coed and 1A, 2A and 3A divisions, will be live streamed via this link:
