Jacket Swimmers Advancing to Regionals Following Solid Performance at District Meet

 

                Following a solid showing at the 8-5A District Meet, eight Jacket swimmers are headed to Regionals after qualifying in relay and individual events.

                Leading the team is the sole senior and three-year state qualifier Samara Harman, who was the individual gold medalist in the 500-yard freestyle. Harman also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle.

                Sophomore Reese Easley came away with the bronze in the 100-yard butterfly, with teammate Elizabeth Hunt placing sixth, with both advancing to the Region 2 contest.

                Cleburne posted fifth place finishes in the girls 200-yard medley relay and the girls 200-yard freestyle relay. Competing for the Jackets in both events were Harman, Easley, Hunt and Belicia Cox.

                On the boys side in individual competition, freshman Rylan Coates captured the silver medal in the 100-yard backstroke and finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medley relay. Junior Parker Pritchard placed sixth in the 100-yard butterfly.

                Cleburne will also be competing at Regionals in the boys 200-yard medley relay after placing fifth at the District Meet. The team is comprised of Pritchard, Coates, Blayd Schawo and Dane McCoy.

                Head Coach for Jackets Swim is Ciro Salazar; Tai Shelton is assistant coach. The Region 2 Meet will take place February 4-5 at the Mansfield ISD Natatorium.
