Student performances, exhibits of student artwork, children’s activities and campus and community information booths will be featured at the Thursday, March 2 Cleburne ISD Multicultural Fair, set for 5-8 p.m. at the Cleburne Conference Center.
Highlighting the annual celebration of the cultural diversity represented by the students and staff of CISD will be a sampling of national dishes unique to six countries from around the globe—prepared and served by student chefs in the culinary arts program at Cleburne High School.
A STEM Exploration Room will also be available, giving Fairgoers the opportunity to engage in robotics and computer activities. The work of students in the elementary gifted and talented program will be displayed along with award-winning entries by Cleburne High School students competing in the 2023 Region XI Visual Arts Scholastic Event.
“We are very excited to welcome our families and the community to our seventh annual Multicultural Fair,” Christy Burton, CISD Director of World Languages said. “Our focus is to provide families with information on the numerous programs and resources available within our school district and the community, while also showcasing the talents and achievements of our students.”
“The support we have received through the years from the City of Cleburne, who is co-sponsor of the Multicultural Fair, along with businesses and agencies, churches and civic groups has been tremendous,” Burton said. “We are grateful for their partnering with us to give our community a look at what CISD students are learning and the many opportunities available to them.”
Student performances will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be presented in ten-minute intervals. The talent lineup, in order of appearance, includes the Adams Elementary Music Club, Irving Pre-K Poetry Readers, Cooke Elementary Vocal Roar Choir, the Annie Kids from Santa Fe Elementary, Marti Elementary Choir, Irving Elementary Kindergarten and First Grade Two-Way Dual Language students, Coleman Elementary Colt Chorus, Golden Pride Band Brass Quintet and a routine by the CHS Showstoppers Dance Team.
Stations located throughout the Conference Center Exhibit Hall will feature tastings of main dishes and desserts from Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Ireland, Spain and Thailand. Executive Chefs in advanced culinary arts will oversee the preparation and serving of selected recipes from the six countries represented at this year’s Multicultural Fair Food Tour. Items on the menu range from Arroz con Leche, a Costa Rican favorite, Sauerkraut Soup, unique to Germany and Shepard’s Pie from Ireland to Poutine—a French fry dish served in Canada--Spanish Paella and Thai cuisine featuring Tom Ka Gai Soup, Pad Thai and Mango Sticky Rice.
