Seven CISD Campuses Named Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase Schools

Seven Cleburne ISD campuses have been named Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools for 2021-2022.

Honored by Trustees at the June 20 school board meeting were the principals of Adams Elementary, Coleman Elementary, Gerard Elementary, Irving Elementary, Santa Fe Elementary, Lowell Smith, Jr. Middle School and A.D. Wheat Middle School. This is the fifth consecutive year for Coleman to achieve the national recognition and the fourth for the other six campuses.

National Showcase Schools are chosen annually through a rigorous selection process that includes measuring key performance indicators, gathering campus data and surveying staff and students. The results represent the implementation of CKH processes as well as the culture and climate that has been created at the campus due to successful use of the program and its strategies. Cleburne ISD implemented Capturing Kids’ Hearts districtwide in 2015.

The selection process began this year with 608 school candidates and resulted in 378 receiving the national designation.

“We are very proud to have the staff of these seven campuses honored for going the extra mile every day to build an environment where students and staff feel safe and connected,” Dr. Kristi Rhone, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction said. “This award reflects a united commitment to the Capturing Kids’ Hearts processes in the fostering of social-emotional learning, a relationship-driven culture and student connectedness. This has a definite effect on the excellence that happens every day in classrooms and throughout the school.”
