UIL Outstanding Performer Award Honoree Stars on CISD Jacket Talk Podcast

Incoming Cleburne High School senior Damson Chola, Jr. stars in the latest episode of the CISD Jacket Talk podcast, available on Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/episode/0DTVIB9Jy6pXEV4fB6X691?si=d82b020a70934580.

Chola, and Bassoonist George Alazar will be honored at the July 17 school board meeting as the recipients of the UIL Outstanding Performer Award, the top recognition to be presented to competitors in the annual Texas State Band and Vocal Solo and Ensemble Contest. They were also gold medalists in the solo division.

“This is fantastic,” CISD Director of Fine Arts Dr. Estelle Murr said. “It is an accolade to the students, their families, teachers and our school district. This achievement shows not only development of musical skill at the highest level, but also unparalleled work ethic, as this prestigious competition took place following the last day of school.”

In addition to his involvement in choir, Chola is also a theater arts student at CHS, where he has received All-star Cast honors in UIL One Act Play competition. He portrayed Shrek in the 2022 fine arts production of “Shrek the Musical.”
