The CISD Facility Advisory Committee (FAC) concluded their research, examination, and deliberations for the prospect of a future bond referendum addressing existing and new CISD facilities on January 13.

Following the consensus on proposed projects and long-term facilities plan on January 13th, committee representatives Stephanie Philips and Vance Castles presented the FAC’s no tax-rate increase bond recommendation to the board of trustees on January 19, 2021.

The two FAC representatives prefaced the recommendation with a condensed process overview, highlighting key points from each meeting throughout the three-month process. Survey results were also presented. The survey, developed by Chris Jackson, CISD's Assistant Superintendent of Research, Data, and Accountability, helped committee members appropriately rank proposed projects. The survey also lent a hand in developing the long-term facilities plan. 

Also included was a review of the 2016 bond masterplan. A plan that was ultimately modified to align with the work of the Academic Alignment Advisory Committee (AAAC), who presented their grade realignment recommendation to the Board of Trustees on September 21. 

The bond recommendation totaling $90,730,934 with a proposed no tax-rate increase included:

• Wheat Middle School Renovation
• Smith Intermediate School Renovation
• Technology, Safety, and Security
• Don Smith Performing Arts Center Renovation
• Student Activity Center New Construction
