Valedictorian Cooper Madison and Salutatorian Marissa Bosher, the top two academic leaders of the Cleburne High School Class of 2022, will be the featured speakers in graduation exercises taking place Saturday at 8 p.m. at Globe Life Field.                 Madison, as first in her class, ends four years at CHS with a GPA of 4.576. The next step in her educational journey is The University of Texas, where she plans to study experimental psychology.

                Bosher, whose GPA of 4.463 has earned her the title of class salutatorian, has been accepted into the College of Engineering at Texas A & M University. She hopes for a career in chemical engineering, specifically lab research, in creating new medications.

                The seniors were among the 38 members of the Class of 2022 Top Ten Percent recognized at Friday’s Pinnacle Bank Honor Graduates Breakfast. Also in attendance were Caroline Bennett, Jade Boyd, Rebekah Brockett, Aliya Carrizales, Rylie Clark, Alyssa Cox, Jordenne Cunningham, Rowan Eyman, Elena Fojtasek, Elias Gann, Elias Gomez Mendoza, Alexiah Henson, Camiel Hilton, Kylee Howington, Rene Huerta, Jimmy Lopez, Briana Martinez, Jose Martinez Pacheco, Audrey McClure, Pamela Moreno-Hernandez, Tammy Nguyen, Nadia Owen, Anahy Perez, Jake Piety, Jaret Piety, Emma Rohr, Leslie Sanchez, Emma Schulte, Avery Tapia, Jessica Torres, Andrew Tucker, Moises Vargas-Pacheco, Carlie Vogel, Aubrey Whitehead, Zoe Wilson and Dylan Witte.

                The list of student activities, involvement and awards for both the valedictorian and salutatorian are numerous. Madison has been a headliner in CHS theater arts productions since her freshman year, serving as president of Cleburne’s Texas Thespian Troupe 2032 as a senior. She will have one more opportunity to represent CHS, in being among four students selected to compete at the International Thespian Festival taking place in June at Indiana University.

                Madison has been involved in UIL One Act Play competition all four years, switching from stage performance to a technician role this spring as student director of Cleburne’s entry “A Monster Calls.” Her CHS theatrical resume includes the annual Fine Arts fall musical productions. She was a member of the ensemble in the 2018 production of “Beauty and the Beast.” As a junior, she was featured in the role of Grandma in Cleburne’s Addams Family Musical. She was cast as the Wicked Witch of the West in the 2021 fall production of “Wizard of Oz.”

                Her role of involved student at CHS has included JV and Varsity tennis, and three years of participation in journalism, serving as both yearbook assistant editor and editor-in-chief. As a junior, she was also newspaper editor of the “CHS Yapper.”

                Madison has been a member of the CHS Interact Club, a service organization for high school students sponsored by Rotary International and Cleburne Rotary Club, and competed in Rotary's 4-Way Speech contest. She is also a member of National Honor Society and Student Council/Student Leadership.

                She is a four-year recipient of the Academic Excellence Award and was presented with the national AP Scholar with Honor recognition from College Board for outstanding AP test scores as a junior. She has been honored by the CHS faculty in being selected as one of 12 seniors named to Who’s Who.

                Madison is currently writing a musical script to draw awareness to mental health, collaborating with fellow students for music, set design and development. As a sophomore her acting skills were showcased in a professional development video focusing on the CISD Values of Excellence program for both staff and students, in which she also served as narrator.

                She is the recipient of the Alumni Scholarship, the Wiseman-Neal Alumni Scholarship and the Pinnacle Bank Scholarship Award.

                Bosher’s four years at CHS have been highlighted by involvement in sports and student organizations. She has been a leading starter in Lady Jackets Volleyball as a three-year member of the varsity team.  She is the recipient of First Team All-District accolades including Defensive Player of the Year.

                As a student athlete, she has also been recognized for her performance in the classroom in being named to the All-District Academic and Texas High School Coaches Association All-State Academic lists. She spent two years on the cheerleading team, elected captain as a sophomore.

                Bosher is a member of National Honor Society, Beta Club, Exchangettes and this year served as Student Council secretary and secretary of Interact Club. She is a four-year Academic Excellence Award honoree and, as a senior, is the recipient of the Isaac Newton Award, presented by the CHS Math Department to the top student in calculus. Bosher has achieved the Beta Club Summa Cum Laude recognition each year since the ninth grade. She has also been honored in being named to Who’s Who at CHS.

                She has received number scholarships including the Cleburne Rotary Club Marti Scholarship, the Alumni and the A.D. and Lucille Jackson Alumni Scholarships, the Zonta of Johnson County Scholarship and was honored as a finalist in the 2022 James Hardie Inclusion and Diversity Scholarship program.
