Six Cleburne High School seniors have been named candidates for the 2022 Homecoming Queen crown, which will be presented during halftime ceremonies of Friday’s football matchup with Killeen High School.

                Nominees are Trinity Granger, Jayden Key, Jazmine Martin, Amy Martinez, Bianca O’Bryant and Allyson Reed. 2021 Homecoming Queen Jordenne Cunningham, now a freshman nursing major at Abilene Christian University, will be in attendance to crown the new honoree.

                The candidates will be among the entries in Thursday’s Homecoming Parade, set for 6 p.m. and will be presented at the Community Pep Rally to follow.

                Granger has been active in sports and student organizations throughout her four years at CHS. She serves as secretary of Student Council and is a member of Interact Club and Key Club. She has competed at the varsity level in soccer since her freshman year and has achieved 2^nd Team All-District and All-County honors. She is a team captain this year. She was a member of Lady Jackets cross country in her first year at CHS, and advanced to Regionals.

                Key is a four-year member of Varsity Softball and has served as an athletic trainer for three years. She is a member of Exchangettes and SkillsUSA. Key is also involved in the Certified Nurse Aide Certification program at CHS, with plans to continue with studies at Navarro College in the hopes of becoming a fire rescue paramedic.

                Martin is captain of the Showstoppers Dance Team, in which she was honored with the Best Showmanship Award.  She is also Student Council president and the recipient of the CHS Integrity Award. Her activities also include serving as a worship leader at Hope Church.

                Following graduation, she plans to study nursing at the college level while working as a certified nurse aide. She also plans to continue her involvement in church ministry.

                Martinez’ high school experiences have included participation in the Golden Pride Color Guard and she was a multiple medal winner in her two years on the Lady Jackets track team. She is currently a member of Health Occupations Students of America and a student in the Certified Nurse Aide program. She has volunteered with Operation Blessing and is a member of her church’s worship team

                Martinez has also performed in The Promise musical production in Glen Rose. She plans to enroll in college following graduation and has an interest in becoming an Ultrasound Technician.

                O’Bryant is a four-year multi-sport and academic letterman. She is a member of the Varsity Cheer Squad and is secretary of both National Spanish Honor Society and Key Club and is the education committee chairman in National Honor Society.

                Her school activities have also included membership in National Society of Black Student Alliance, National Society of High School Scholars, Beta Club, Exchangettes and Student Council. She is an academic leader among her classmates in being ranked in the top one percent.

                She has selected communications as her college major, with a minor in marketing, with plans to continue to the post-graduate level to attend law school.

                Reed has participated in Student Council and is a multi-sport athlete at CHS, competing in track and volleyball and she is a three-year member of varsity soccer. Her soccer honors include 2020 Newcomer of the Year, 2021 Offensive Player of the Year and she has achieved Outstanding Offensive Player recognition at the district, county and area levels.

                Her plans following graduation are to continue her soccer career as a member of the D-1 women’s program at Angelo State University, where she will major in business.
